Machine learning has come a long way since Google’s DeepDream software in 2015. What used to be limited to Mandelbrot-like images of puppies within puppies as far as the mouse could zoom, now allows us to create any image that we can think of, and in any style imaginable. What is perhaps most surprising, is that it can do this from a text description rather than reference images. The Project Artsy Monke was built upon recent years’ advancements in AI and image diffusion techniques, using Google’s collaborative Notebook platform Colab, and combining it with their powerful Cloud Computing service.

“We were able to take all ten thousand Bored Ape NFT images, and feed those into the machine as a loose canvas within which to frame the generative art. The end product was mind blowing. ” said CryptoGrims, Artsy Monke’s in-house AI artist. “After that, it was a matter of teaching the machine to paint in the twenty different art styles we shortlisted, and then running multiple servers for several weeks to get the results we wanted.”

The results are astounding. Browsing through the 10,000 Artsy Monke collection it’s easy to pick out the intricate Viking ship scenes, the moody neon city landscapes, and the intense stormy oceans, but if we half close our eyes while looking at any one piece, we see a very familiar Bored looking Ape.

“We felt there was something missing from standard NFT art. While we understood the hype and excitement behind minting a new Ape, knowing that you had no idea what it would look like and what type of rarity it would have, we also felt there was a fine art element missing from the standard NFT collections. No matter how much you loved it, would you really hang it in your home? We wanted to recreate the magic of the Bored Ape collection and convert it into art.” said Dan Hovey, the project’s blockchain developer.

The 10,000 piece collection has since already sold out, with new buyers only able to collect the art from owners on the NFT marketplace OpenSea. The good news is that whereas Bored Ape Yacht Club’s cheapest entry point is now 85 ETH (around $100,000), an Artsy Monke original will only set you back a cool 0.015 ETH ($22). This may not be the case for much longer, as the team are about to release Artsy Monkeland, a Metaverse Themepark where only Artsy Monke NFT holders can participate in Play to Earn (P2E) video games.

“Having being in the NFT space since early 2021, we always knew that we needed more than just a great looking NFT. Which is why we also designed it as a utility token. We wanted Artsy Monke to be pieces of art that you could hang on your wall, but also, by using Web3 technology, we can also let holders access the Artsy Monke games and earn real money. The more Monke NFT you hold, the more games you can play and the more money you can earn.”

More information can be found at OpenSea or the official website at ArtsyMonke.com

Global cyber security platform TryHackMe has launched unique training that allows users to emulate a potential adversary attack.
The London-based company bases its new ‘Red Teaming’ interactive lessons on real-world scenarios, to help businesses expose vulnerabilities across their networks and systems.
Its gamified sessions are aimed at individuals who want to achieve high-level jobs in the security industry, alongside businesses looking to upskill their staff.

The ‘Red Teaming Pathway’, launched as part of TryHackMe’s Red Team Month, is designed to get employees to think like a cyber attacker in a bid to expose flaws in their company, which ultimately allows them to mitigate risk.

Over 48 hours of hands-on training and assessments, those taking part learn how to challenge defence capability by imitating a cyber criminal’s actions, emulate malicious attacks, retain access and avoid detection.

Co-founder of TryHackMe, Ashu Savani, said: “We’re incredibly excited to be rolling out a stream of more technical training for aspiring red teamers to learn the core technical skills required to do this kind of work! We’re honing in on offensive security training with our new Red Teaming pathway created by our team of experts.”

Those who complete the pathway will have the advanced skills needed to pursue new career opportunities in offensive security.
The cloud-based training also seeks to address a skills shortage in the industry.

TryHackMe has also released new resources, including interviews and details about the salaries people can expect when they join the industry.
Savani added: “This training is perfect for all businesses, and is particularly adopted by those most vulnerable to cyber threats. There is a strong pattern in rising threats to companies within financial, tech, medical and Saas industries. Every business is at risk of security breaches and can pose as a target to hackers, so it’s vital to mitigate human error with a training focus across the company. Learning to think like a hacker with Red Teaming training helps to understand loopholes and vulnerabilities, patch them, and mitigate risk.”

TryHackMe goes way beyond textbooks and focuses on fun interactive lessons that put theory into practice. Training labs are gamified and feature virtual machines, so users remain engaged and can learn the exact tools, technologies, and methods to hack and defend machines; transferable to real-world job roles and responsibilities.
Businesses can sign up to take part in the new pathway here: https://tryhackme.com/path/outline/redteaming and those who complete it also earn tickets for the chance to win $21,000 worth of prizes.

Over one million people across the world have already enrolled with the company.

For the first time since launching in 2019, UK-based Traced Ltd has introduced an in-app subscription to premium security features into its free security app, so that iOS and Android users can stay protected against phishing attacks and malicious web content as they browse the web.

Safe Browsing is the first feature Traced is including in Trustd Plus, and it’s available to both iOS and Android users. Safe Browsing is the same enterprise-grade available to customers of their business threat solution – Trustd MTD, and Traced is offering it to consumers to upgrade their on-device security for a low monthly subscription.

The introduction of premium features via Trustd Plus is a first for Traced, which has been acclaimed with an average 4.5 star rating across over 8000 reviews globally on Google Play. Users appreciate Traced’s privacy-first ethos and threat detection capabilities.

What is Safe Browsing and how does it protect against phishing?
Mobile phishing attacks are on the rise (in fact, they increased 700% in the first half of last year (Source: Proofpoint data). There’s smishing, vishing, phishing over social media and email, and there’s also phishing content on the web that lures a target to download a malicious app or enter their private details into a form.

The free Trustd app protects consumers against phishing by scanning phishing links in text messages, email apps, productivity and messaging apps like Slack, WhatsApp, Skype and social media – blocking the link from opening.

Safe Browsing in Trustd Plus provides a deeper layer of phishing protection. It detects and blocks fake and malicious websites while users browse the web from any app. Safe Browsing would detect malicious websites such as those used in the Dracarys and Malibot malware campaigns, preventing users from accessing the sites before they could download the infected app. In phishing attacks that present forms that send sensitive data back to the attackers, Safe Browsing would block those webpages from opening before a victim can enter any personal information.

To experience peace of mind when browsing the web, users can subscribe to Trustd Plus through the Trustd app. Download from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).

About Traced
The Traced (https://traced.app) team of security and privacy evangelists has won several cybersecurity awards and works with Microsoft’s MISA program, the Coalition Against Stalkerware, and the NCSC for Startups. Combining the threat intelligence from 250k+ protected mobile devices with that of other industry vendors, Traced’s ever-evolving AI technology stays one step ahead of the cyber criminals, protecting individuals and businesses from data loss from mobile phishing attacks, compromised WiFi networks, unpatched devices, malware and leaky apps.

With the new iPhone 14 just days away from release, what is the most popular smartphone currently in use around the world?

Apple’s eighth-generation model has sold the most units out of all other smartphones

The iPhone 6 (including the iPhone 6 Plus) is the best-selling smartphone of all time, selling 224 million units since it was released in 2014. The iPhone 6 is not the longest-running smartphone and nor does it offer the latest features – its popularity can be put down to overwhelmingly positive reviews and a redesign on the previous iPhone which balanced form and functionality.

As experts in technology, MAGFAST investigated the most popular phones throughout time and how the technology has developed, from the very first mobile phone released in the 1980s to the latest advancements in 5G. One portion of our study involved finding which cell phone models have sold the most units ever. Whilst it was the basic Nokia 1100 and Nokia 1110 that came first and second in the rankings, the iPhone 6 was the best-selling smartphone.

The iPhone 6 proved popular right at its launch. It received 4 million pre-orders within the first 24 hours of availability, which exceeded the number of units Apple had. Once it launched, it sold 10 million units just in the first three days of sale.

The iPhone 6 promised several improvements on the previous iPhone 5 and its variants. The iPhone 6 had a longer battery life, larger screen size and a higher resolution camera. However, even with its success, the model was not without its criticisms. It was the iPhone 6 that was subject to the infamous ‘bendgate’, where users reported the phone was susceptible to bending under pressure, such as being carried in a pocket. Apple maintained that this issue was “extremely rare” and replaced any unintentionally bent phone.

The next best-selling smartphone is the iPhone 6s (including the iPhone 6S Plus). These were the successor models, released a year after the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. The 6S and 6S plus have sold 174 million units worldwide. They had a similar design to the preceding models but offered more durable hardware, a higher resolution camera, and updated software. Apple continues to dominate the smartphone market, with the next best-selling smartphone being the iPhone 5S. Released in 2013, this model sold 164 million units.

MAGFAST is the future of charging and connectivity. Our revolutionary family of premium chargers and charging accessories utilize the latest technology to ensure everyone can stay connected at home and on the road. MAGFAST is truly versatile and can be used with old, new and future devices. With such a range of cell phones now available, we looked into the history of mobile communication technology to find the most popular phones through time.

Work-life balance, the phrase has become almost as mythical as unicorns and honest politicians. Is there really such a thing? How do I get it? What does it even mean!?

What is work-life balance and what does it mean?

Here is a simple definition to clear things up for you:
Work-life balance is an important aspect of a healthy work environment. Maintaining work-life balance helps reduce stress and helps prevent burnout in the workplace. Chronic stress is one of the most common health issues in the workplace.” Forbes

Does that help clear things up? Does that help you understand how you’re supposed to maintain a healthy work-life balance? Didn’t think so.

The actual question should be “what does work-life balance mean to you?”. Because in reality, it is completely personal to each and everyone, as we all have different priorities and commitments.

For some, it is the ability to have a full productive workday and then having time to spend on hobbies — if you call binge-watch the newest season of The Handmaid’s Tale a hobby. No judgement here! For others, it’s the ability to balance their busy work schedules with spending quality time with family and friends, and not missing out on the important moments in your loved ones’ lives.

Work-life balance is essentially about having a flexible schedule so that you can focus and be present for whichever occasion, task, project or person you need to be without feeling stretched too thin or completely exhausted.

If that means that on some days you spend more hours working so that you can spend the next day with friends going to a park, or go surfing, then you can do so, guilt-free.

However when you’re constantly spending too much time on one area of your life and neglecting the other – and let’s face it, usually we sacrifice personal time for work obligations – that’s when it becomes a problem.

Signs of unhealthy work-life balance

Unfortunately, we live in a culture that praises being busy.  You must “always be closing” and “hustling”. We’re bombarded from all sides with what is supposed to be motivational content on how you must “go get it” and how taking it easy is a sign of failure. We feel ashamed to even admit that we need a time-out. So it’s no wonder that we struggle to recognize when there is an imbalance in our priorities between work commitments and our personal lives. Does this sound like you:

  • You often work for long periods without leaving your desk
  • You can’t remember when last you had a decent meal
  • You can’t remember the last time you didn’t eat a meal at your desk
  • You’re constantly checking work chats/emails even after logging off
  • Friends and family comment/complain about you constantly being on your phone or working
  • You get anxious about starting your workday
  • You struggle to switch off when going to bed
  • You often work nights and weekends
  • You feel overwhelmed by your workload
  • You feel emotionally and physically drained

Maybe you’re thinking to yourself: “These are all obvious, but they’re also normal and everyone feels like this, it’s just part of life and I can’t believe I’m wasting my time reading this article!”

Well, my friend, I’m sorry to say that it’s not normal. If two or more of these sound familiar, then your work-life balance is out of whack and you’re headed for disaster. You’re completely doomed!

Just kidding. It’s not that serious, but it could be.

This kind of lifestyle is not sustainable and can lead to burnout. And yes, burnout is a real thing, Karen!

If all you’re doing is living to work, and not living, then it’s time to rest and restore the balance.

Tips on how to improve your work-life balance

We get it, when you’re working for a paycheck and you just want someone to “show me the money!” then it’s tough to set those boundaries and achieve a healthy work-life balance. We’ve put together a few tips that will help you prioritize both your work responsibilities and your personal life.

Manage your calendar

Schedule it in.  Work schedules, appointments, due dates, dinner dates, gym classes, friend dates. Write it down. All of it.

By actually adding your personal time into your calendar or your diary, it becomes just as important as any other work commitment. It also gives you something to look forward to when you’ve had a hard day of “hustling”.

Learn to say “no”

Steve Jobs did it. There’s even a famous quote by him about it “Innovation means saying no to 1000 things” Steve Jobs. If you’re constantly saying yes to things you don’t have time for, don’t like, or don’t really want to do, but you’re sure it will impress someone at the top, then you are saying no to other things that are actually important to you.

Knowing your limits, and saying no, doesn’t make you a bad employee or worker. In fact, you’re doing your team or client a favour by not overcommitting and under delivering. The same goes for personal engagements. If you don’t want to stay out all night going to that trendy, Instagrammable and overpriced club because you want to stay in your pj’s and rewatch Friends for the zillionth time, then say no!

Set boundaries and work hours

Just like learning to say no, learning how to set boundaries is crucial to maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Set out realistic working hours in your calendar and make sure your colleagues (especially the ones who always text you with “emergencies” after-hours) and clients know when you are available and understand that when you are out of the office, you won’t be answering emails, checking messages or taking calls. You also need to lead by example, if you don’t respect them, no one else will either.

Set goals and priorities

If you’re constantly starting your day all flustered and anxiety-riddled, then it might be good to spend a few minutes at the end of your workday, or just before going to bed, and planning for the following day. By writing down your top priorities and goals for the next day, you can jump straight in.

Some people are morning people — we know, so annoying — if you are one of those people, then make sure you schedule your tasks that need your full attention in the morning when you are most productive. If you struggle to focus for long periods of time, try using the Pomodoro method  which is a time management technique that breaks down tasks into short, manageable 25 minute intervals with short breaks in between. Although this method has been around since the ’80s, these days there are many time management apps based on this principle that actually block out any other distractions such as social media etc. allowing you to focus on your task.

Get help

You might think that you’re able to juggle it all, but you’re not auditioning for the circus, so if you find yourself dropping the ball on more than one occasion, then it’s time to get help. Small business owners and entrepreneurs often wear many hats, it’s true. But if you truly want to scale your business, you should focus on what you do best, and consider hiring a Virtual Assistant to help you manage the things that you don’t have time for, don’t have knowledge of, or just don’t like doing!

Prioritize your health.

This should be self-explanatory, but you need to make both your health and mental health a priority. You don’t have to immediately subscribe to Crossfit (is that still a thing?). Start simple. Take enough breaks away from your desk. Eat something. Eat it anywhere else but your desk!

Go to sleep at a decent hour, and get up at a decent hour. If you’re not part of the 5 am club, who cares?! As long as you feel well-rested, that’s all that matters.

Get moving — even if it’s walking to work, or up a flight of stairs, or to the shops, moving your body will help clear your mind and release those lovely feel-good endorphins that will boost your mood and your productivity. And remember, put it in your calendar!

Accept that there is no ‘perfect’ work-life balance.

Remember,  that there is no one-size-fits-all recipe and you won’t always get the balance perfectly right. You’ll have days where the scale will tip more to one end, and you’ll spend more time working than what you’d planned on, but as long as you acknowledge this and make sure that you’re not falling into old, unhealthy work-life habits, then you’re on the right track.

Lotus Notes, also known as HCL Notes, is an email system with many features similar to other leading email clients like Outlook. It uses standard mail protocols like SMTP and POP3 and can be used by administrators as a complete e-mail environment. Lotus Notes files have. NSF extension, and migrating them to Outlook, which supports PST file format, would require a converter software. While, many tools are available, we found Stellar Converter for NSF to be the best NSF to PST converter tool for this task. Here’s an honest review of this product, so you can also decide if this tool can solve your purpose. This review will tell you how to use this Software, its benefits & performance.

Let me begin with the Software’s features

  • Conversion from NSF to PST: The Stellar Converter for NSF converts the. NSF extension files to PST format, which keeps the data and formatting of the files similar to its original state. You can also directly export the converted file to Outlook, as the data exists in its original form.
  • File Preview Before Finally Saving It: You can verify the data in the file, before saving it. The software gives you a chance to verify if everything is same as original, thereby ensuring data integrity.
  • Easy Search Option for NSF files: If you do not know the exact location of your NSF files in the system, it can help you locate them using its ‘Find’ feature, thus saving your time.
  • Free Conversion from NSF to PST: You can convert for free up to 10 items per folder. If you wish to convert more items, you would have to purchase the Technician edition. The Technician will allow you to convert unlimited NSF files into PST file format, using the ‘Batch Conversion’ feature.
  • Export Directly to Outlook or Office 365: If you want to migrate from an on-premise Lotus Notes Server directly to MS Office365, you can do so with this software. But, for this, you would need its Technician version. Simply enter your Office 365 account details in the Technician version and all the NSF mailbox items will be directly exported to your account.
  • Conversion into Different Formats: The NSF files can be converted into many file formats available in the software, such as PDF, MSG, RTF, HTML, and EML.
  • Compatibility with Windows and Lotus Notes: The Stellar Converter for NSF is compatible with Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7, and Windows Vista. Also, Lotus Notes version from 10.0.1 to 6.0 and MS Outlook from 2019 to older versions.

Take an Insight into Software Performance

Just like any other software, this one is also dependent on your system specifications. You would not need high-end hardware to run this software on your system. Below are the minimum requirements of this software:

  • RAM: 4GB RAM (recommendable is 8GB)
  • Operating System: Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7
  • Processor: Pentium Class
  • Storage space: 250 MB

How to Use This Software for NSF to PST File Conversion?

I must say that the software is easy to use, and let me take you through the steps to convert Lotus Notes or HCL Notes NSF files to Outlook PST file format. Before conversion, make sure you have Lotus Notes and Outlook installed on your system

Download the software from stellar website and begin the installation by double-clicking on will start the installation Download process.

Once the installation is complete, launch the Stellar Converter for NSF tool. You will see a window ‘Select NSF File’ on the home screen.

Click on ‘Browse’ and choose your NSF file. If you do not know the exact location, you may click on ‘Find’ button to locate all the NSF files in your system. After choosing the NSF file, select ‘Convert.

You will see a preview of all your NSF mailbox items, like emails, calendars, notes, reminders, etc. after conversion. Further, choose ‘Save Converted Files.’

You will see a pop up window with different options to save the file, like MSG, EML, HTML, and more. Since, I wanted to convert into PST file format, I selected PST file format. Then, click on Next. You can also click on ‘Don’t save folder named ‘All’ as it contains duplicate data’ and this will not save any duplicate items.

When the ‘Choose Destination’ window appears, select ‘Browse’ and choose the location to save your file. Further, choose ‘OK’ to begin the saving process.

When the process is complete, you will see a ‘Saving Complete’ dialog box. Finally click on ‘OK’.

Wrap Up

I must say this software gives you exactly what it offers, i.e., you will get a precise conversion of your NSF files to PST.  So, you will not have to deal with a long manual method where your data integrity may get compromised. You can first download the demo version like I did, and once you are satisfied with the software features, you can buy the complete license key. The Stellar Converter for NSF is also 100% accurate, and it keeps all your mailbox items, like reminders, emails, attachments, and contacts intact. Also, the structure and mailbox hierarchy are maintained like before. So, on a scale of 1-5, I would give it 5 out of 5, and you must go for it if you are willing to convert your Lotus Notes or HCL notes .NSF file into PST file format.

June 14, 2021, Los Angeles, CA: Parallel Agile’s CodeBot and LieberLieber’s LemonTree combine revolutionary low code full stack application generation from UML models with cutting edge model management and version control to deliver unprecedented power to development teams.
CodeBot is a full stack application generator that creates a database, user interface code and an API that connects the screens to the database within minutes, saving  teams of developers weeks of application building time. LemonTree provides advanced version control and baseline management for Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect UML models.  Now, lightning speed large scale parallel development is no longer a problem since the two companies have decided to collaborate.
CodeBot’s low code approach allows teams of developers to work in parallel and quickly deliver working web applications, generated from UML models. Rapid iteration between model and working code allows UX optimisation and refinement, driven by customer feedback. With LemonTree each of those model iterations can be managed and version controlled, making it easier for developers to work in parallel. Because of the synergy between products customers can now purchase both CodeBot and LemonTree as a bundled product at a combined price of $1499.
Following the Parallel Agile process, with each developer assigned their own use case, systems evolve rapidly. As the gaps between model, code and deployed systems narrow, it becomes increasingly important to employ version control strategies to EA models. LemonTree is a breakthrough in model management which allows EA models to be easily stored and version managed in Git repositories, with full support for feature branches and model merging.
Dr Konrad Wieland, CEO of LieberLieber, states, “It is always surprising for us what Enterprise Architect and LemonTree are used for. With our Californian partner Parallel Agile, we are once again entering new territory. CodeBot automatically develops web applications from Enterprise Architect models, whose different versions are managed with LemonTree during the development process. This speeds up many areas of software development considerably and the benefits are great. We wish Parallel Agile much success in the market with its revolutionary approach!”
Parallel Agile CEO, Doug Rosenberg states, “CodeBot’s ability to generate and deploy complete full stack web applications means that the UML model is the source code. When the model is the code, it’s essential to use state-of-the-art version control tools and techniques. We’re excited to be partnering with LieberLieber and to be able to offer a product bundle that includes Lemon Tree and CodeBot together.”
“I have met Doug Rosenberg at many events and know him to be an avid Enterprise Architect devotee and an exceptional inventor. With the development of CodeBot, he and his team have achieved a particularly promising step. We are pleased to be able to contribute to the growing success of the new product package with LemonTree. The list of potential users is long and we will do our utmost to support the joint market success”, said Daniel Siegl, Business Developer at LieberLieber.

By now you must have heard of hair transplant and the most popular place to get the procedure is Turkey. To be more specific, Istanbul.

You may wonder why people lose hair. There are many reasons, some are, genetics, stress, what they eat. This can happen to people who are in their 20’s or 50’s, it is all about genetics and your lifestyle. Hair transplant is usually thought of as a procedure for men but, lately women have started to come too.

Few years ago, the idea of getting a hair transplant wasn’t a very popular idea, because not many people had it done and because it was so unknown, people didn’t trust it. Now thanks to social media, we can watch and read about people’s experiences and as people see other people getting it and seeing the results, they started to think more positive about it.

At first famous people started getting it, in those times it was seen as a very expensive procedure, but as technology advanced, prices went down, and people who weren’t famous started getting this procedure. As we all know, the prices in the UK are pretty high, especially when you compare it with other clinics in other countries, one of the clinics that has made a name for itself is Clinic Center, not only do they do hair transplant, but they also do plastic surgery and cosmetic dental procedures.

A lot of people also go for a holiday whilst they are in Turkey and why not? The weather is great, the food is wonderful and the people there are just so welcoming. Usually people first do the holiday part as they can’t go swimming after a hair transplant, and then they get the procedure done. So it is a win-win for the patient.

Right now the most popular technique is FUE, what happens is, they take hair from your donor area(without damaging it), then transplant it on the areas that you discussed before the procedure. Once everything is healed, there isn’t a scar.

Of course you may want to speak to someone first before going all the way to Turkey, very understandable, Clinic Center has an office in London where you can talk about what they do, prices etc. or they do video consultation for those who can’t come to London. They don’t just look after you before and during, but they carry on looking after you when you are back at home! So patients who want to ask something or get checked can.

Now you know, there practically isn’t an age limit or sex limit for loss of hair and the solution is simple: hair transplant, some people have asked this question, is it temporary or not? The answer is, it isn’t temporary. As long as you are eating healthy and don’t smoke, you shouldn’t have any issues. One more question that keeps coming is, does it look natural or like a wig? If you get it done by an experienced trichologist, it will look natural.

So, if hair loss is bothering you and you want to do something about it, you should definitely think of getting the procedure done. After about 9 months you should be able to see the results. But sometimes this number can go up to 12 months. Once you had the hair transplant, you should remember that you need to be patient for the results and once you see the results, that’s it! They are there to stay.

After 3 years of hard work, Roomkey.co has finally invented a totally new way for virtual networking to happen online. Digital communities, starting today, can now access our product for free. This means they can set up a community lounge for their team, and host free networking events, and virtual meetups. Roomkey is built for the admins of Discord, Slack, Facebook, and Linkedin Groups!

My name is Don Stein, and I’m the Founder of Roomkey.co. As a first-time entrepreneur trying to figure out the right way to operate, it’s really instrumental to have VC’s who are willing to roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty. I’ve been so fortunate to work with many great backers like Larry BraitmanSpark CapitalGeneral Catalystbetaworks and more. They are the type of investor who offer advice, guidance, mental support, and many introductions. It’s so valuable. But one special investor has really leaned in to help me over the past six months, and I’d like to thank them. They are the investor who was willing to work on a project with me from start to end, fitting into deadlines as needed. Always doing what’s best for the company. That’s the type of investor we have with Biz Stone of Future Positive.

Future Positive is a new fund started by Biz Stone and Fred Blackford (who recently joined the Board of NotCo, a leading food-tech company in Latin America). I believe they are one of the strongest global teams for investment in the world, with close ties to London and Silicon Valley. Fred is well connected within the realm of capital. And Biz, he’s an All Star within entrepreneurship. Having co-founded Twitter (NYSE), Medium (yes, this Medium), and Jelly. If you’re in the mood for a good burger, he’s also on the Board of Beyond Meat (NASDAQ: BYND). Biz has great access and support in the UK as he’s currently involved with Oxford.

In partnership with Future Positive, Roomkey co-hosted The Social Entrepreneurship Festival 2021. Biz and I spoke for 2 hours on the virtual stage over the course of Thursday and Friday, in a public setting within the Roomkey.co app. The feeling of inspiration was just as strong in-person as with his avatar.

1: Serendipity can change your life, keep meeting people online!
At the age of 9, Biz had to work on a lawn mowing company in order to help bring in money for his family to pay for food and other necessities. He ran this company through high school. He maintained an optimistic spirit to build his own startups. He initially started Xanga prior to Twitter, and despite it growing to 1M users, he felt his time was better spent working on projects with Ev Williams. So he discontinued with Xanga and buddied up with Ev. At that time, Ev was a popular blogger, so his friendship with Biz was a natural fit. The serendipity of the internet brought these two together, Ev and Biz, the co-founders fo Twitter. Although they were working on a product, it was not until this extremely unique moment when they incorporated.

2: Act fast when you see an opportunity
Don’t let opportunity pass you by. There are many stories of elderly people on their death bed regretting ‘not taking action’ to capture something they feel is an opportunity. Biz is not in this category. Prior to even starting Twitter as a business, they built it as a product with a SMS messaging system. During their trip to SXSW, they witnessed the power of this platform. After this story happened to the twitter co-founders, they knew they had an opportunity, and incorporated Twitter Inc. the next day. We are glad Biz StoneJack Dorsey and Ev Williams went to SXSW!

3: Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much

You’ve heard the saying. It’s the common theme of Biz’s career, book, and life philosophy: the power of groups of people. Biz finds great people, and sticks with them for a long time, and his platforms allow others to do this as well.
All of his companies; Twitter, Medium, Jelly, and even his first one, Xanga, are about helping people share ideas into a pool of collective intelligence. A virtual space where people come together to engage with each others ideas, and build bonds. In some ways, ‘’the internet already is a mini-metaverse.’’

4: Follow your passions, even if you have no money

The reason why Biz is so inspiring to myself, and to others, is because we all have that one passion we care about. The thing that we would do regardless of money, yet most of us have financial or psychological reasons why we are not pursuing our passion. Even while growing up on welfare, Biz found a way to do what he loves. Part time, full time, half time, or just a little time, any time you can find to work on your passions is time well spent. (Mine are music and startups). Below, he discusses how as a 9-year old to help get his family off of welfare he would work lawn mowing jobs, and continued to work various gigs his whole life.

5: Attitude determines your latitude

Biz’s unique combination of nurture and nature made him a global citizen who thinks deeply about the world, and gives back with philanthropy. Every time we have an adviser-advisee call we laugh a ton, and it’s because of his comedic wit plus genuine nature. Biz has a theory that “money doesn’t change you, it amplifies who you already are.” As he frames it, an evil billionaire will let go of all of the caged tigers in San Francisco. But a good person will give back and help others who have a social cause. Given the entire thesis of Future Positive is to help those who want to achieve success in the right way, it’s great to know who will be funding the next evolution of businesses. Always humble, it’s hilarious to hear the founder of Twitter say, ‘’I’m not great with technology.’’

Truly a fun conversation, if you’d like to join our virtual world and bring your community so you too can host these types of events, you can get started for free with your first events! roomkey.co/download. Available anywhere (iOS, Android, Windows, Mac).
