New no-fuss solution VisaVisum to help millions apply for Visas
A new smartphone app has been released to help ease the headaches associated with the Visa application process. VisaVisum, available as a free download from the App Store and Google Apps, looks to help thousands of international travellers quickly, easily and efficiently fill out Visa application forms straight from their mobile. A Facebook app is also available for laptops, netbooks and desktop computers.
“The app was inspired in part by my own experiences as a student at Sussex,” says company founder Yehuda Hecht. “Getting the Visa application papers to travel was a real ordeal, writing out your details over and over again in whatever format was required by the various embassies and consulates. Now that the technology exists to collate all that data more efficiently, I thought ‘why not?’”
VisaVisum was developed by a team of IT experts and tourism professionals based in the Sussex Innovation Centre at the University of Sussex, near Brighton, UK. With half a million international students currently attending UK universities and requiring Visas to visit mainland Europe, it became apparent that there was an increasing demand for an easier and more convenient way of filling out application forms for Visas.
“We’re happy to have supported the creation of this new mobile app, which will greatly benefit huge numbers of travellers,” says Mike Herd, Executive Director of the Sussex Innovation Centre. “Applying for a Visa can be very time-consuming, with many different bodies to inform and pieces of paperwork to fill out before an applicant can even begin to think about travelling. With VisaVisum, Visa applicants don’t have to worry about endless forms and data. More people have a smartphone now than a computer – they can use the mobile app on the go, anywhere that they have access to the internet.“
VisaVisum has launched with a limited beta site and will support Visa applications for even more countries in the near future. For now, the site covers Visas to countries that are part of the Schengen Agreement, including Switzerland, Sweden, Spain, Slovenia, Portugal, Netherlands, Malta, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, Latvia, Italy, Iceland, Hungary, Greece, Germany, France, Finland, Denmark, Czech Republic, Belgium and Austria.
The VisaVisum mobile app is offered for free to all Visa applicants. VisaVisum are keen to hear feedback and suggestions from users via the beta site, Facebook page (http://on.fb.me/16Sk1Ke) or by phone on +44 (0) 1273 704 416.
