The number of people migrating, buying holiday homes or spending their 3-month sabbaticals in a foreign country is continually on the rise.
For those TV lovers, an IPTV set top box is the answer to their prayers; in a nutshell, it allows users to continue to watch their favorite TV programmes whilst abroad.

Imagine a subscription service (similar to SKY) but dedicated for users who are abroad.

IPTV vs. Internet TV

Internet TV and IPTV both refer to television programming and video transmitted over the Internet. In that sense, both formats are IPTV. However, the two forms are different:

  • Internet TV typically refers to television broadcast over the Internet that you view on your computer in a Web browser. Examples include news programming available for viewing on the Internet, Web sites that broadcast standard television programming, and even YouTube video. This kind of IPTV is characterized by low-definition video and uneven transmission speeds.
  • The second type of IPTV—the focus of this article—is a subscription service delivered to your home by a service provider through a set top box, much the way cable TV works today. This kind of IPTV not only provides high-definition (HD) television programming but also interactive features that allow you to play programs and movies on demand, pause and replay video, watch Pay-per-View shows, and other features. Some providers also include text messaging, digital telephone, and Internet access in the service.

How Do You Get IPTV?

IPTV is not available everywhere. Currently, it is more widely available in Europe. The service provider My TV Abroad currently provide their IPTV setbox Freeview receiver from the UK, Scandinavia or Greece, allowing you to view live TV from these countries anywhere in the world via your internet connection.

You will never miss an episode of your favourite TV show or the big sporting events again with this system. Simply plug the Ex-Pat TV box into your broadband router and your television and you will have live, uninterrupted access to all Free to Air channels currently are currently broadcasted in the those countries.

Making the Choice

IPTV may be new, but it’s growing rapidly. Today, there are about 29 million IPTV subscribers in the world.

According to a leading media analyst, the number of IPTV subscribers is expected to more than double in the next 2–3 years. This means that IPTV service is going to become more widely available in the near future—something to keep in mind if you’re planning to purchase a new television or signing up for a long-term service agreement with your current provider.

For those looking to watch British television programmes whilst abroad, My Tv Abroad have a wide array of channels for their subscribers to choose from.

Unlike others on the market, the My Tv Abroad system does not require a computer to make it work, nor does it require you to hide your location. It is very simple to use and easy to set up. All this from only £19 per-month.

If you are moving abroad or perhaps have a holiday home, now’s the time to take advantage of this great offer provided by My Tv Abroad. Click here for more details

Kickstarter is currently the most popular crowdfunding platform in the world. In fact, backers have put nearly $4 billion into projects they love and support. Kickstarter is a great way to help gain money to continue building your product and/or company without having to burden yourself with the traditional methods of investment. This is especially true for game developers who have a hard time promoting their indie games against major companies.

However, although Kickstarter can be very effective, there are many people that fail miserably at Kickstarter because they don’t do their research and end up making some costly mistakes. Here are a few tips for funding your game through Kickstarter:

Create An Amazing Introductory Video

There’s no way around it: you absolutely need a well-edited introductory video. Your video is the single most important opportunity you have to connect with your audience, and it shouldn’t be taken lightly.

Potential backers will make judgements based on first impressions of your video. Unless you have thorough editing skills and good equipment, this is one area of your campaign that you definitely want to outsource. Here are a few tips for making a killer Kickstarter video:

  • Make a video outline/script. Without an outline, your video will lack the structure it needs to meet your goals. Start with a brief introduction, then talk about the problem (why did you start this campaign?) and the solution (what’s your product about and what problem does it solve?). You can then introduce your team and dive a little deeper into what you’ve created. Finish off with a call-to-action.
  • Be genuine and personable. After all, first and foremost, you want to create a connection between you and your audience. Think about how you want to be represented, and let it shine through your body language, tone, and words.
  • Keep it short. Some of the most-funded campaigns have pretty straight-forward videos. If you cram your video with content, you’re likely to lose some viewers.
  • Check out other crowdfunding videos. These will serve as great inspiration, and help you better understand what’s successful to backers. Take a look at this list of the best Kickstarter videos of all time. You’ll also want to comb through campaigns in your industry to see how others are using video to promote their products.

Have Rewards For Every Level

Some campaign creators make the mistake of omitting rewards for lower-level budgets. According to Kickstarter, the most common pledge amount is $25. However, you should still offer rewards for backers who are just sending a dollar. There are plenty creative rewards for $1 backers.

For example, you might create password-enabled website that allows backers to follow development of the game in a much more high-level, personal manner. Simply set up your website hosting, find a design/theme that allows you to capture the essence of your game, and use one of many WordPress password plugins to get you started. Check out this list of other clever $1 reward ideas.

Connect With Your Audience On Social Networks

Your campaign should have a fair amount of social networks associated with it. Although you’ll be updating on your Kickstarter campaign itself, you always want to siphon those updates into your social networks, where you’ll be able to more fluidly engage in dialogue with your audience.

Furthermore, this is the perfect time to build up your social presence, which will be there long after your campaign has ended. Be sure to respond quickly to questions and comments, and consider taking a proactive approach by searching hashtags for relevant discussions you can join in on.

Create A Marketing Strategy

Before you even begin to set up your Kickstarter campaign, it’s imperative that you have a marketing strategy in place. In fact, Kickstarter should be the absolute last thing you do.

Campaigns only last 30 days, and that’s not enough time to cultivate a brand and build awareness. Long before you start to create the campaign, start putting together your marketing strategy. Here are a few things you can do to start spearheading your marketing efforts:

  • Get involved in influencer marketing. Influencer marketing has a highly effective marketing strategy. Use tools like BuzzSumo to identify key influencers in your niche, and work out a plan to work with them to help spread awareness.
  • Start a blog. Not only do blogs help the public stay informed, but it can also increase your SEO.
  • Launch a landing page. As previously mentioned, having a website is like having a portal towards your product. Without it, it’s difficult to create a permanent home outside of your campaign.
  • Send out a press release. Your press release can help bring in referral traffic, and like a blog, can also help with SEO.

Barely a couple of months into the launch of Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S9, the world has already turned its eyes towards the next in line – Samsung Galaxy S10.

Marking the 10th anniversary of the company’s flagship series, the Galaxy S10 is touted to be one of the most significant releases in the tech giant’s history. It has been given the codename ‘Beyond’, highlighting Samsung’s intention to launch a device that defies the norm and blows its competitors, such as the iPhone X, out of the market.

We have rounded up all the news and rumours that have been doing the rounds regarding the release date, specifications and price of the Samsung Galaxy S10.

Samsung Galaxy S10 Release Date

Although it is too soon to predict the release date with certainty, according to recent rumours, the Galaxy S10 is expected to debut in the first quarter of 2019.

This would fall in line with the release schedule of previous phones in this series – Galaxy S9 was released in February 2018, Galaxy S8 was unveiled in April 2017 while Galaxy S7 made its way in March 2016.

The Mobile World Congress (MWC) show in Barcelona, scheduled to start on 25 February next year, is considered the most likely event to witness the launch.

Samsung Galaxy S10 Features and Specifications

If rumours, led by prolific Twitter and Weibo tipster Ice Universe, are to be believed, then Galaxy S10 is going to offer several significant upgrades to the handsets currently out there.

The screen resolution of the phone is expected to exceed 600 ppi, putting to shade the resolutions of iPhone X – 458 ppi – and Samsung’s own Galaxy S9 – 570 ppi.

Ice Universe also tweeted that the Galaxy S10 will have an even smaller bezel and an increased screen to body ratio of 93% as compared to that of Galaxy S9, which has a screen to body ratio of 83.6%. The screen size of S10 will be increased slightly to 5.8 inches while that of S10 Plus will be increased to 6.3 inches.

Galaxy S10 is also expected to be Samsung’s first smartphone to have an in-screen fingerprint scanner. The technology was supposed to come out with the upcoming launch of Galaxy Note 9 but several sources have confirmed this to not be the case, meaning it will most likely be a part of Galaxy S10.

According to the reliable Ice Universe, Galaxy S10 will also be the first smartphone ever to support 5G connectivity. You will now be able to enjoy super-fast internet speeds wherever 5G technology is available.

To rival the Face ID scanner introduced by Apple in its iPhone X, Samsung has reportedly partnered with 3D camera firm Mantis Vision to introduce a state-of-the-art 3D Face Scanner in the Galaxy S10. It will allow a much more secure user experience while also improve AR Emoji, the company’s AR-powered emoji.

Samsung Galaxy S10 Name and Price

Going by the naming history of the Galaxy S series, it would be fair to assume that the next one will be called Galaxy S10. But that might not be the case. In a recent interview, the President of Samsung Mobile, Koh Dong-jin, remarked, “Although Samsung will stick to Galaxy, we have been thinking about whether we need to
maintain the S moniker or the numbering system.”

This could mean that the ‘Galaxy S10’ could, in fact, be called Galaxy X. But that is also the rumoured name of Samsung’s planned foldable smartphone. So it remains to be seen, what the final name of the device will be.

Talking about the price, the Galaxy S9 was launched in the UK starting at £739 while the S9 Plus was launched at £839. So the power-packed Galaxy S10 should average around £800 while the S10 Plus should be around £900.

Things should become clearer in the coming months. So watch out for updates on this piece only on The Fone Stuff.

During the age of analog television, different parts of the world used to use different television display systems – namely PAL and NTSC. While that is largely no longer applicable nowadays, some DVDs and DVD players may only support one type of system or the other.

If you have a PAL DVD that you can’t play on your NTSC DVD player, you should convert it to NTSC instead. It may be tough finding a converter that can do that, but Movavi Video Converter will have you covered.

Assuming you have the DVD in your computer’s DVD drive, you can launch Movavi Video Converter and start converting it almost immediately. First you need to add the DVD however by clicking on ‘Add Media’ then ‘Add DVD’ and ‘Open DVD’ – then selecting the DVD video file under the ‘VIDEO_TS’ folder.

Next you should set it to convert that PAL DVD to NTSC by opening up the ‘Video’ tab and selecting the ‘DVD-Compatible Video’ category. As you’ll see Movavi Video Converter provides several NTSC presets that you can choose from, and you can select the quality that you prefer.

If you’d like to set Movavi Video Converter to save the video into a specific folder once it has been converted, click on the ‘folder’ icon next to the ‘Save to’ field. After that’s done you can press the ‘Convert’ button at any time to convert your video from PAL to NTSC.

After the conversion is complete it is up to you whether you want to burn the video to a DVD or just save it onto your PC. Keep in mind that Movavi Video Converter is much more than just a PAL to NSTC converter and can be used to switch your DVD videos to other formats as well, that may be more convenient to store.

To be perfectly honest there are lots of other features in Movavi Video Converter that you may want to explore and take advantage of. It can convert all kinds of media files, and you could use it to create animated GIFs from video clips, extract audio tracks from videos, or grab screenshots. On top of that it has numerous editing tools as well to cut and join videos, resize their frames, add captions, and more.

All in all Movavi Video Converter will help you to manage your videos by ensuring they’re the right format, altering their settings, or editing them if need be. It can do the same for all your other media files as well, which makes it the perfect all-in-one utility. Suffice to say with its help you should be able to cope with almost any situation.

There’s a famous song that goes like: “It’s a small world after all” … and Internet has made this world even smaller. Ecommerce websites have redefined the realms of shopping. There was a time when shopping meant going to several brick-and-mortar stores and making a purchase after conscientious inspection of the product or service.

That is not the case anymore. Just log on to an eCommerce website like Amazon or eBay and your shopping is sorted. However, just like there are two sides to every coin, eCommerce websites also have a downside. These websites make shopping perfectly convenient but there are certain security threats that you need to be careful of. Security threats imply the unethical attempts to steal the data or manipulate it. It also includes phishing attacks or malware infection by hackers.

Let’s have a look at the reasons for these vulnerabilities one by one.

#1 Improper Management of Data

If you do not manage your data accurately, it is likely to put your system and Internet network at risk to security threats. Free anti-virus software programs can definitely help you mar virus attacks to a certain extent, but they cannot replace the premium anti-virus software license. Therefore, it is advisable to have a fixed cost spared to buy anti-virus software.

#2 Manipulation of Price

The eCommerce websites have to encounter issues like price manipulation several times. The pricing system is completely regulated by automation programs starting from the visitor’s first visit lasting till the last payment gateway. Price manipulation is done to steal the data, and the unauthorized source gets access to the confidential information by installing a lesser price deal in the link.

#3 Snowshoe Spam

Every day we get so many spam messages in our email inbox or text. It is nothing new. We have got complacent to spam. We just read the spam messages and delete it without taking any action. Despite being a serious issue, it is no longer perceived as that. However, that does not really solve the problem. Usually, one person sends spam but sadly cyber criminals have now resorted to an approach that is known as snowshoe spam. It is different from spam in that many users send it. Consequently, the anti-spam software is unable to stop the spam messages and protect the data.

#4 Malicious Code Threats

Viruses, worms, Trojan horses are included in malicious code threats. A virus is usually an external threat that can lead to corrupting the website files on getting access to the internal network. They can cause the system to crash and completely destroy the computer data. It hampers the typical computer working. It is known as a virus as it can only spread in the presence of a host.

Worms cause more serious damage in comparison to viruses. They can destroy numerous computers or devices in hardly few hours.

Trojan horse can execute functions that can destroy the system by working as a programming code. Make sure you perform the source check before downloading anything as Trojan horse can attack your computer through downloads.

#5 Unprotected Wi-Fi system

If your Wi-Fi network is not encrypted, hackers can get into your system and steal the personal information. It works like listening to the information virtually when it is transmitted through a Wi-Fi network. This is possible on public and personal devices as well.

#6 Hacktivism

Hacktivism stands for hacking activism. Though this threat does not affect you directly, it is important to take it into serious consideration. It is not true that hacktivists only target you if you are in the field of politics. There can be socially motivated purposes too. Generally, it uses social media platforms to throw light on issues prevalent in the society. However, it also involves sending numerous emails to an email address to the extent that it gets shut down for a temporary period.

#7 Miscellaneous

Port scanning, data packet sniffing, and IP spoofing are some of the miscellaneous threats that can affect your eCommerce site. Data packet sniffing is usually known as sniffers. A third party unauthorized source often uses sniffers to attack data packet flow and get access to every data pack. It is not easy to trace the attacker if your site is affected with IP spoofing. They modify the source address and make it appear like the origin was another computer.

How to overcome these threats

HTTPS with SSL Certificate

Secure Sockets Layer or SSL Certificate encrypts the data transmitted between the browser and server. You can purchase EV SSL Certificate to make sure that your customers have a safe shopping experience on your eCommerce store.

HTTPS gives your site a green padlock in the address bar and establish a sense of trust with the customers. As a result, you can increase your conversion rate as well as enhance your search engine ranking on Google.  Whether you are looking for domain validation or extended validation certificates, you can buy them at reasonable rates from authorised SSL reseller like SSL2BUY.

Security audit

It is advisable to carry out a regular examination of a company’s security processes.

Necessitate two-factor authentication for payment confirmation

Payment gateways should ask for two-factor authentication and send a one-time password on email or text for confirming the payment. This ensures that the transaction is being carried out by the respective person and no hacking attempt is involved whatsoever.

Final Thoughts

Ecommerce is one of the industries that is most prone to security threats. As a result, eCommerce website owners should be wary of the cyber threats and keep their software programs as well as devices updated with the latest security patches and operating systems. Most of the time, it is our carelessness that lands us in trouble. Like it is said: Precaution is better than cure… so if you have not yet secured your eCommerce store website, now is the best time.

It’s better to be safe than sorry!

Most mobile deals today come with the enticing promise of unlimited text messages. But it’s becoming apparent that this part of the deal isn’t delivering value for UK consumers.

The rise of mobile messaging apps, such as WhatsApp, Snapchat and Facebook Messenger, is leading to the slow death of the text message. Data analysis commissioned by insurance provider Row shows that the use of text and picture messages has fallen by almost a third since its peak in 2011.

Yet a survey commissioned by payment support service, TSYS, uncovered that 58% of UK residents use mobile messaging apps[1]. Alongside this, data published in 2014 by communications regulator Ofcom, cited that 42% of Brits stated their main reason for using a mobile phone was to use messaging apps[2].

WhatsApp’s own data shows that the messaging app reached one billion active users in February 2016, an increase from 700 million in January 2015[3]. As of January this year, WhatsApp became the most popular global mobile messaging app, with the number of users beating out Facebook Messenger (800 million) and Skype (300 million)[4].

Row analysed Ofcom’s data and highlighted that in the 12 months to the end of September 2015 (the most recent data available) UK mobile subscribers sent 102 billion text messages.  That equates to an average 1,200 texts for every mobile subscription in the country.  But before you tap out OMG* bear in mind that in 2011 Britons sent more than 150 billion texts.

New data from communications network company Cisco states that the average monthly smartphone data traffic in the UK during 2015 was 1.2 GB, an increase from the average of 849MB per month in 2014.

If you’re looking for the best deal on a data led mobile tariff, 3 mobile offers unlimited data, texts and minutes for just £30.00 a month. On the other end of the scale, Vodafone offers 20 GB of data, unlimited texts and minutes for £40.00 a month.

While the text message may be on its way out, Britons are talking for more minutes than ever on their mobiles. Using mobiles is now twice as popular as talking on a landline.

Five years ago the number of mobile minutes was roughly the same as time spent on landlines.

But Row’s analysis of the most recent numbers shows that in the 12 months to the end of September last year, the mobile minutes used have climbed by 15% from 123 billion and landline minutes have dropped by a third from 112 billion when compared to 2011.

Richard Waters, Managing Director at Row, said: “Our analysis of Ofcom’s data shows that the way we use our mobiles is changing rapidly and that mobile devices are becoming increasingly important in our lives.

“Instant messaging apps may have replaced SMS but Brits are still heavily reliant on their phones. We’re continually depending on our mobiles to speak to our friends and family, rather than a home phone. Our mobiles are becoming an ever more precious and essential possession.”

It’s been said that women are generally more careful than men. Well according to new figures about broken devices, this might be true!

New stats from a UK wide survey have shown that men are more likely to damage or break their home gadgets than women.

Research from Row indicates that 13.28% of men have claimed on their gadget insurance in the last 12 months, compared to 10.44% of women.

However, more women surveyed (13.75%) admitted they’d lost a gadget, such as a mobile phone, tablet or laptop, than men (11.41%).

Men are more likely to be a victim of theft, with 21.74% of those surveyed agreeing that they’ve had a device stolen from them in the past.

In terms of age, shockingly, 35-44 year olds have claimed on their gadget insurance more than three times in the past year, and they are the age group most likely to claim due to the loss of a gadget (17.95%).

41.07% of those aged 18-24 have claimed on their insurance because they’ve dropped a device.

When asked if they had gadget insurance, 18-24 year olds and the over 55s are the most likely to say yes, coming in at 28.03% and 27.78% respectively. 45-54 year olds are the least likely to have gadget insurance (74.39%) yet over 30% of them agreed that their devices are worth over £1,000.

Those living in London are more likely to have a fault with their gadgets, as almost 13% have made a claim on insurance over the past 12 months, which is a five per cent increase on the West Midlands, in which only 7.7% of people have claimed.

Despite being the highest claimers, Londoners are also the least likely to have insurance for their devices (69.74%).

Richard Waters, Managing Director at Row, commented: “These stats highlight the importance of getting some kind of insurance to protect your devices, particularly as the value of our gadgets seem to be increasing.

“Looking at the results from London, these are particularly worrying, especially as 13% of people find a fault with their device, yet over half of those living there don’t have insurance. Consumers may be shelling out a lot of money for a new phone or laptop, when protecting their gadgets can only cost a few pounds per month.”

1. Remix Mini – The World’s first true Android PC

When three former google engineers put their heads together, you know the product is going to be something super extraordinary. Remix Mini is just this – a fist-size piece of kit that will transform your PC screen into the simplicity of a tablet.

This snazzy gadget is packed with high- end specifications and the familiar user interface found on most tablets, taking away the complications of browsing on your pc.

The user friendliness of Remix trumps that of any computer- and after a using your computer screen like you would a tablet, you’ll never look back.

2. Lumos – A next generation bicycle helmet

Finally, an invention that your Mother will approve of – a bicycle helmet that may just save your life!
Integrating brake and turn signal lights, Lumos effectively transforms your head into a system of alerting vehicles when you are breaking, and in which direction you are turning. It does this through a wireless remote you activate, which then triggers the turn or break signals to begin flashing on the helmet.

Also, an integrated accelerometer is included with the helmet, and senses when you begin to slow down, turning on bright red rear lights to signal to any cars behind that you’re braking.

lumos

Rather conveniently, Lumos is fitted with a rechargeable battery, and is charged by a micro USB cable – just a 10 minute charge will power the gadget for a week!

Combining technology and safety, this popular gadget is a worthwhile investment I predict to see many of them on the roads in the coming years.

3. Solar Paper, the world’s thinnest and lightest solar charger

For the hardcore smartphone addicts out there, this nifty solar panel charger may just be the answer to your prayers, promising a full charge in just 2 and a half hours in sunny weather.

Easily transportable, the thin lightweight structure is just larger than a £20 note and can be tucked away in a book or side pocket of a rucksack, to be used in emergencies to juice up your tablet, camera or phone – basically anything that is charged with a USB cable is compatible!

For gadgets that may need more power, that’s not a problem either – just click more magnetic panels into place, enabling more power to be captured and transferred to your device.

No similar sized solar charger on the market can generate as much potential wattage as Solar Paper – so best to invest now before the project ends.

This project will be funded on Thu, Aug 20 2015 – Back it here

4. ZNAPS- the magnetic adapter for your mobile devices

A common pet hate of most smartphone users has to be the realisation, a few short months after shelling out hundreds of pounds on a top-of-the-range phone, that the charger is on its way out, and the battle to connect phone to charger is near impossible.

Now however, the good folks at znaps have put their heads together and come up with a cheap and easy solution to this problem, in the form of a £6 adapter little more than the size of a fingernail.

Attach the adapter to the end of your charger, and insert the connector into the port in your phone, snap the two together and voila! A seamless charge or data sync without the fear of snapping off the end of the charger and it being lost in your phone forever.

5. DrinkMate – The miniature iPhone breathalyzer

When you think of cutting edge technology, it’s unlikely that you’ll think of a tiny black contraption that can easily fit in your pocket. But that’s exactly what DrinkMate is – and it could help to save thousands of lives and make roads much safer places.

After being in development for 2 years, the finished product is less than 5cm long and plugs into the charging port of iphones, giving a detailed reading of your Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) on the screen. There isn’t even any need to touch the gadget with your mouth – simply blowing on the sensor.

Gone are the days of convincing yourself that you can have one more drink before the drive home- your handy DrinkMate will tell you if you’ve had one too many!

Facebook, where you share thoughts; Instagram, where you share pictures; Twitter, for one-liners and Quora, for sharing ideas and information in the form of questions and answers, are examples of social networking sites. Social media has become an integral part of marketing and almost every travel agency worth its name has an active social media profile to connect with you, the traveller.

Gone are the days when you would have to carry travellers checks, airplane tickets, hotel reservation slips, concert tickets and other documents. With the exception of your passport, almost everything is scanned and verified using the Internet. The I-94 admission forms in most countries have to be filled online, which means soon your passports could have an online version too!

How can you benefit? Travelling light, efficient check-in processes at airports and hotels!

All you have to do is download the apps for checking in on your smart phone and you are good to go. Nearly every travel destination has good Internet connectivity and decent town/city Wi-Fi towers which means you don’t have to worry about losing signal from your service providers. Read this article to know how smart phones revolutionised the way we travel today.
